NEC Thermal Scans For Flu Carriers

Cold and flu season is here again, and we all know just how contagious those diseases are. NEC hopes to stem the tide at the entrance of its Tokyo headquarters by featuring an infrared scanning machine which is capable of measuring the temperature of anyone entering the building. The infrared thermography system is capable of producing a visual display of the entire body, where the body’s coolest areas will be black and white in color, while anything higher than 37.9°C will be in red. Those who register a red mark will be pulled aside and checked with a traditional thermometer in order to be more thorough. That doesn’t mean if you suffer from a fever, you won’t be admitted – you can be asked to wear a mask or shooed off to an isolation ward.
