Mouse Computer (from Japan) is going to launch a Netbook with a built-in DVD Burner. The Motherboard and processor will be on par with existing Atom-powered computers (1.6Ghz Atom, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM, 10.2″ display, XP Home), but it’s rare to see optical drives in this category.
It would be interesting to see how it handles DVD playback and what kind of effect such a use could have on battery life. There’s no loud complaint about the lack of optical drives, but assuming that this stays in the $400-$500 range would you want one? Press Release (in Japanese)
