
Olympus has made a name for itself when it comes to tough handsets, and its latest two models unveiled are the µ Tough-8000 and 6000. The former is a 12 megapixel shooter that is not only waterproof (up to 10m), but shockproof (up to 2m), crushproof (up to 100kg) and freezeproof (Max -10°C) as well. Features include :-
- 2.7” HyperCrystal III LCD
- 3.6x wide optical zoom (28-102mm)
- Dual Image Stabilization
- TAP Control Menu
- Face detection
- LED Backlight
- VGA video recording at 30fps
The lesser µ Tough-6000 offers 10 megapixels of goodness but can’t go as deep as the 8000 with a maximum working depth of 3m), shockproof up to 1.5m and lacks the crushproof feature, although it has an ability equal to that of the 8000′s freezeproof limit. The rest of the specifications remain the same though. There is no word on pricing as at press time.
