Palm Pre Android Being Worked On

While the Palm Pre is not even out yet, a bunch of curious hackers have already started work on booting Android on the Pre. Word has it that the efforts of porting Android over to the OMAP 3 processor that will see action in the Palm Pre has already begun in July 2008, so customizing bits and pieces here and there for the Pre shouldn’t be too much of a hurdle to cross for those brainacs. It will be interesting to see just how well Android will perform on the Palm Pre, but we’re more inclined to think that Palm’s own webOS is good enough and having Android run on it is a nice distraction meant for hobbyists and curious cats. Are you excited about the Palm Pre’s release yet, or do you adopt a non-chalant attitude towards it?
