Super Talent dropped an announcement concerning a new line of SSDs which will specifically target the S101 netbook from the Eee PC range, available in various capacities of up to 64GB, boasting read and write speeds of up to 90MB/s and 55MB/s, respectively. These SSDs won’t take up too much space, measuring 68.5mm x 32.1mm, and were specially designed for the S101 so you can forget about sticking them into other netbooks or devices assuming your S101 gives up the ghost. 64GB is much more spacious compared to the 16GB Windows or 32GB Linux models, and you’ll have to throw in an additional $169 if you intend to pick up the 64GB model. That’s pretty affordable, but we’re probably looking at boosted sales when the price of SSDs drop considerably more in the future.
