Finally, some good news to cheer the gloomy world on – Toshiba is on track to commercialize its direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) technology this quarter, which means we are looking at a pre-April launch of a DMFC-based battery charger. Hopefully Toshiba will also be able to come up with DMFC packs for cell phones, handheld devices and even notebooks sometime this year, although we would like to see just how effective and convenient the initial batch is like first. Toshiba has remained mum on further product details, and we have no clue on whether the DMFC charger will cater for a selected product line, or will it be a general one with interchangeable tips.
