
There is some speculation that eBay might ditch Skype, as eBay’s CEO described the VOIP service as being a “great stand-alone business” during a call with analysts. During the conversation, Mr. Donahue added: “the synergies between Skype and the other parts of our portfolio are minimal. We’re going to continue to run and operate the business”.
This has been understood by some that eBay would sell Skype, if the price was right (although we suspect for much less than the $2.6B eBay paid in 2005). Google might be a candidate as the company has been known to buy high-profile brands and Skype could be a nice fit in their VOIP/voice chat plans. Do you think that Google should buy Skype?
