
Depending on which time zone you’re at, the reported $10 laptop from India will be on display in Tirupati on February 3, although this time round the price stands at $20 but with the magic and wonders of mass production, we’re expecting to see that cost slashed by half to hit the intended $10 price point. It is hoped that such an affordable laptop will be able to bring knowledge economy to rural areas in India, where education is often the only legitimate ticket out of a life of hardship and backbreaking physical labor. We’re all for cheap laptops, but then another problem arises with that – what happens to all the trash generated once these laptops are disposed off?
