Apple’s patent filing here shows it could be mulling over a universal battery format that can be charged outside of the device or familiar power outlets, since it comes with a replaceable core and can be connected to one of multiple-yet-standard formats that potentially have chargers in multiple hosts instead of relying on its very own proprietary charger or adapter. In layman’s terms, this means even a computer, keyboard or other device could potentially hold several slots that can be used to either charge batteries, including those from other devices, or used to power the device itself. There will be at least four battery sizes, making us wonder whether these sizes mean the ability to power notebooks as well as smaller devices like cell phones.
