Gmail Lets Others Know Where You Were

Google has introduced yet another experimental feature to its Gmail software, letting recipients of your e-mails find out where you sent them the email from. From yesterday onwards, Gmail users are able to append their e-mail signature with city and country location, letting folks know exactly where you are so that they will be able to have the common sense not to disturb your sleep by calling due to the time difference – assuming they actually read what your signature says, of course. There is a snag however, according to Google software engineer Marco Bonechi, the feature keys in on your IP address might not be the most accurate indicator of your current location. To enable this option, turn on Location in Signature from the Labs tab under Settings, head to your signature preferences and check the box next to “Append your location to the signature.”
