Honda will be demonstrating a lot of Advanced Safety Vehicles at the upcoming ITS-Safety 2010 public demonstration that will run from February 25 to 28 in Tokyo. These vehicles were specially designed to trade both speed and positional information and other data between vehicles, or in some cases, between a vehicle and an electric cart (vehicle-to-vehicle communications). Of course, this does not rule out communication between the vehicle and road infrastructure (vehicle-to-infrastructure communications) as well, covering a whole lot more bases this time round when it comes to preventing an accident. What you see above is the Honda IT Monpal 4 electric cart, which is pretty cool albeit nerdy looking. What we need are driving schools that help create more responsible drivers instead of upping the ante in passive safety that cause drivers to think less.
