If you want blazing fast download speeds by the time 2012 rolls around, it would be in your best interest to make plans now to move to South Korea as the government and the communications industry will be investing approximately 34 trillion won (that’s around $24 billion) over the next five years so that Koreans can achieve the status of fastest wired and wireless Internet connectivity in the world, hitting an average speed of 1Gbps through fixed lines and 10 Mbps through wireless. The former would mean downloading a 2-hour film in less than 12 seconds – we’re pretty sure that would be in standard definition though, but we won’t mind waiting for a few minutes to get a high definition version.
