Other World Computing has released its Mercury Pro BDR-203 quad-interface external Blu-ray burner that does 8x write speeds, allowing it to burn up to 2GB worth of data per minute. Some of the interface options include FireWire 800, FireWire 400, USB 2.0 and eSATA, where both Windows and Mac platforms will benefit from plug-and-play ability. If you don’t have that much personal data to burn on a Blu-ray disc each time, you can always opt for DVDs as the BDR-203 is also proficient with DVD-RAM, DVD Dual-Layer R/RW, DVD-R/RW and CD-R/RW formats. For $400, you will get the drive itself, all the relevant connection cables as well as a couple of 25GB BD-R discs to get you started. Folks who want the Roxio Toast 10 Titanium software for added company can fork out another $80.
