Roku Video On Demand Service Enters Private Beta

News of Amazon’s collaboration with Roku to roll out its Video On Demand video service over the Roku Digital Video Player has finally entered private beta, and is tipped to make its debut in a 2.0 update although there is no official word as at press time on whether the update will see YouTube access being made available or High Definition is on the cards. Currently, Roku already streams video from Netflix and this move is hoped to expand its media by offering viewers over 40,000 movies and TV shows through Amazon. At time of publishing, Roku’s diminutive 5″ square media hub boasts more than 10,000 movies online via Netflix alone, although one would need a subscription to take advantage of all those titles.
