Samsung To Offer Wireless USB With System-On-Chip

Samsung is touted to make available wireless USB connectivity to a bunch of portable devices ranging from cell phones to digital cameras and MP3 players with its new system-on-chip design that features a newer CMOS process, enabling them to construct an ARM processor that boasts ultra-wideband technology, a wired USB interface and a memory controller. This enables the chip to transfer data wirelessly at roughly the same rate as that of a physical connection. According to Samsung, a 700MB mobile-sized movie could be transferred over in a mere 60 seconds. Samsung also touts that its mobile Wireless USB chip will be superior and speedier over earlier Wireless USB designs, capable of touching 120Mbps with a real-world amount of overhead. Mass production of the chip will begin this spring.
