
Seagate has joined Western Digital in the 2TB club by unveiling a couple of enterprise hard drives this quarter – the 2.5″ Constellation and 3.5″ Constellation ES that will ship with either a SATA or a Serial-Attached SCSI interface. The former is the first from Seagate to ship with a SAS 2.0 interface and joins Western Digital’s 2TB Caviar hard drive which started to ship last week. Seagate’s Constellation ES is also touted to be the only 7,200-RPM 2TB drive on the market, so expect it to offer pretty zippy performance albeit at a sacrifice – the noise. Pricing details have yet to be released, but don’t expect these storage solutions to come cheap.
