Telstra has come up with their own mobile user interface which runs on top of Windows Mobile 6.1 as part of their newly forged alliance with Microsoft. According to Telstra executive director mobility products Ross Fielding, “It’s all about bringing that one touch, one click user experience to our customers.” This new user interface will play nice with Microsoft’s Exchange email server, offering users access to corporate email servers for SME customers. Users will be charged on a pay-per-month basis where access to email is concerned. In addition, this user interface will enable users to use their handset as a USB data modem when connected – not as portable as built-in 3G connectivity on your notebook, but it sure beats looking for a Wi-Fi hotspot. Hopefully Telstra will come up with a version for the recently announced Windows Mobile 6.5.
