Unidata has just lifted the curtains on its new SQ-3000 Wi-Fi phone that will also make a splash at CeBIT 2009 which is just around the corner. The SQ-3000 features support for high-resolution video telephony, although we do think that current video feeds are good enough as long as the frame rates are maintained while there is no voice lag over the line. After all, who wants to see their other half’s pimples and wrinkles from a few thousand miles away in perfect clarity? If Unidata is able to get the SQ-3000 working fine over a high speed connection, so much the better. Features of the SQ-3000 include :-
- 2.8″ touch screen display with 240 x 320 resolution
- Wi-Fi connectivity
- 30 fps video recording/playback
- G.722.2 Wide-band audio codec
- Conference call capability
- MP3/MP4 playback
- XHTML browser
The battery offers up to 3 hours of video calling and 6 hours of voice calling before it requires a recharge.
