For those who want to pick up an iPhone but do not want to be tethered to a 2-year contract, you can check out what AT&T has on offer. Be prepared to fork out more than a pretty penny though, as from March 26th onwards, the 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3Gs will retail for $599 and $699, respectively. Seriously, at that price, it would be better to settle for the 16GB model as you get double the internal memory with just a little bit more investment. After all, $599 has clearly past the “impulse purchase” mark in the first place. Do you think sales of the iPhone 3G will pick up at these figures even when unlocked? That’s pretty much on par with gray imports in other countries.
