While we’ve already heard of horror stories concerning exploding cell phone batteries in the past that posed a health hazard to mankind, how about turning the tables around with a new cell phone application that could actually save lives? AT&T hopes to introduce this technology that enables patients to monitor their own heartbeat, automatically transferring such information to their cardiologists thanks to Bluetooth-enabled cell phones. This service is offered by MedNet Healthcare Technologies and as long as customers are within network range of AT&T, all such information will be sent to a central monitoring server that then relays it to their respective doctors. Needless to say, you’ll have to fork out a monthly fee for this and only doctors who agree to such an arrangement will be available. Just when you thought doctors could not get any busier, they now have one more thing to keep track of.
