Cowon released a beta firmware update for it’s S9 portable media player, where it will introduce a whole bunch of widgets as well as pitch correction where video playback is concerned, turning the S9 into a virtually new device overnight while placing it closer to the Samsung P3 in terms of capability. While widgets are cool, they do tend to clutter up the S9′s home screen and make the entire user experience more cumbersone. Hopefully the final firmware update (as well as future releases) will see Cowon address this user interface issue as the Samsung P3 is still the better between the two.
