Mozilla Shiretoko Released

Mozilla ups the ante where browser wars are concerned, releasing the the third beta version of its Firefox 3.1 (also known as the Shiretoko) yesterday. This new version will feature better “Web worker” multitasking cabilities, a speedier Gecko rendering engine for those who want faster-rendered Web pages, while the TraceMonkey engine has been upgraded for faster, more stable execution of Web sites’ JavaScript programs. Firefox is in direct competition with Apple’s Safari 4 beta and Google’s Chrome when it comes to the best JavaScript performance category. Mozilla originally thought that the third beta version would be the final one, but plans have changed, with a 3.5 release being in the works alongside a planned 3.5b4. Have you given the Mozilla Shiretoko a spin? If so, how did you find its performance?
