While we seem to be getting much more storage space in our MP3 players than we can shake a stick at, there must be something which can be done to take advantage of all that extra space. Instead of cramming in more songs which will take you weeks to run through your playlist just once, why not settle for a new lossless hybrid MP3 format known as mp3HD? After all, if video is going to take the high definition route, why not audio as well? mp3HD not only offers sound detail that is lost in a standard MP3, it is also backwards compatible with current MP3 players with certain restrictions in place – for example, it does well only on Winamp while the lossy .mp3 segment can only play on another platform or MP3 player.
