Roger McNamee, founding partner of Elevation Partners who have a 25% stake in Palm has gone on record to state that huge swathes of iPhone users will be switching to the Palm Pre, since the two-year contracts of the iPhone will be over when the Pre is released. He said: “June 29, 2009, is the two-year anniversary of the first shipment of the iPhone. Not one of those people will still be using an iPhone a month later. Think about it — if you bought the first iPhone, you bought it because you wanted the coolest product on the market. Your two-year contract has just expired. Look around. Tell me what they’re going to buy.” It makes a little sense of course, but will the Palm Pre be enough to stop the iPhone’s momentum? From Uberphones.
