Guess Blu-ray has gotten all the more portable with the new Viera DMP-BV100 device that boasts an 8.9″ TFT display at 1,024 x 600 resolution, while carrying Blu-ray playback capability within. Pity the small screen size won’t do justice to the movie that you’re viewing, but at least you can hook it up to a much more capable HDTV via its HDMI plug. Other features include an SD memory card slot, an integrated digital TV receiver and Ethernet connectivity. The DMP-BV100′s battery will last up to 2.5 hours for playback, taking a whopping seven hours for a full recharge. Talk about diminishing returns, but decoding Blu-ray isn’t exactly a walk in the park either. You will be able to pick up the Panasonic Viera DMP-BV100 in Japan from March 15 onwards for approximately $1,100.
