Puget Systems Go Nuts With $16K PC

Puget Systems decided that the recession will kick in only when they say so, otherwise how else would they put together a $16,000 computer system while expecting the man on Main Street to purchase one? Powered by a quartet of Opteron processors, this beefy computer is aided by 32GB memory and eight hard-drives in different levels of RAID. Another important question to raise with such raw processing power within – how will it stay cool? Puget’s answer is a custom watercooling system accompanied by a large nine-fan external radiator. These 120mm fans will run at 5V for a “nearly silent” experience while ensuring the processors remain within the comfortable realm of 36 degrees C at idle or 45 degrees C under load.
