The rumor mill has gone into overdrive with word that Telefónica’s Movistar is the exclusive carrier to offer the Palm Pre in Spain, UK and Latin America. In the UK, it will be marketed under O2, a subsidiary brand of Telefónica’s Movistar, so Vodafone fanboys might want to grab a pack of tissues and mourn over this piece of news. It would be interesting to see how the entire thing pans out in the end though, so keep your eyes peeled for more information as news breaks a few months down the road. After all, there was a working GSM version of the Pre at the recently concluded Mobile World Congress that was powered by Vodafone’s network, so things could still change in the end.
