Come June, Apple should have gotten their hands on the USB 3 test specification, which means it could be ready for Apple adoption by next year. Guess products from Apple that will roll out in 2010 will have a very high possibility of featuring the super fast USB 3.0 port, bumping data throughput to a phenomenal 5Gbps. We’re interested to see when will external hard drives that connect via USB 3.0 be released, as that will surely prove to be a major competitor to folks who rely on SSDs at this moment when it comes to performance. For the uninitiated, USB 3.0 is also backwards compatible, so there is no need to throw away all those older USB-powered devices just yet.
