Verizon Wireless will be offering the Samsung U740 – also known as the Alias2 in the near future. This dual-hinge handset allows you to open the phone in a portrait manner like a clamshell, or settle for a landscape format if you’re looking for some hard hitting QWERTY action. What makes this model vastly different from the rest is the keypad – the standard 0-9 keypad is surrounded by a bunch of blank keys that can be assigned to various duties as you see fit when opened in the two different methods. An Optimus Maximus keypad for cell phones? Hopefully it won’t cost an arm and a leg when released, and that battery life won’t be impacted to such an extent either.
