Western Digital (WD), a renowned hard disk supplier is entering the solid state drive (SDD) market by buying SiliconSystems at the price of $65 Million. Western digital believes (rightly so) that the SSD market, which is worth $1 Billion) is something that they can simply not pass on. Western Digital will retain all the employees of Siliconsystems. For more information, read the acquisition FAQ.
