While Microsoft has tucked it away somewhere, that doesn’t mean the upcoming Windows 7 operating system will not come with a disabling switch for their browser, Internet Explorer. This could be a way for Microsoft to comply with EU regulations. How was this piece of knowledge stumbled upon? Well, someone who downloaded a beta copy of Windows 7 managed to discover that a number of applications and software functions can be switched off from the Windows Explorer box, and these include Internet Explorer 8 and Media Player. Of course, disabling IE isn’t a walk in the park either as it requires a couple of reboots as well as a configuration step to complete.
