$10 Notebook Ditched In Favor Of OLPCs

The Indian government has decided to stop playing the waiting game with the rumored $10 notebook that it has taken a decisive action of purchasing a quarter of a million units of XO notebooks from OLPC. These machines will then be distributed to students throughout the populous country, which is rather surprising considering the said government’s past reluctance to embrace the XO. This is a boost to the OLPC, although they are still behind Intel in the numbers game. With over 1 billion people in that country alone, 250,000 XO notebooks are but a drop in the ocean.
