Adobe has finally made available an extension of its Adobe Flash Platform which is able to run smoothly on connected digital home devices thanks to an optimized implementation of Flash technology which is able to handle high definition (HD) video and rich applications to Internet-connected televisions, set-top boxes, Blu-ray players and other compatible devices in your digital home. A bunch of System on Chips (SoC) vendors, OEMs, cable operators and content providers including Atlantic Records, Broadcom, Comcast, Disney Interactive Media Group, Intel, Netflix, STMicroelectronics, The New York Times Company, NXP Semiconductors, Sigma Designs and others have already announced support for the optimized Flash technology. OEMs will have immediate access to the Adobe Flash Platform for the Digital Home, where such devices and SoC platforms are tipped to ship before the year is over. With the HDTVs encroaching on Media Center PC territory, who do you think will win out in the end, or will there be room for a peaceful co-existence? [Press Release]
