Still enjoying the success of their unibody MacBooks, Apple is starting to explore the possibility of introducing unibody iPods in the future according to this recently released patent application. The production technology of a unibody iPod could result in lighter, thinner and sturdier hardware, alongside savings derived from using fewer parts. As you can see by the drawing here, very little has changed visually for the iPod classic as it retains all of its charms and characteristics, although a unibody version will make it look as though it was machined down from a large thick slab of material. What do you think – will unibody devices be the next best thing in product design?
