
Crisis or not, BMW is still working on its security niche market. The BMW X5 Security Plus is an armored version of the X5 SUV that has been labeled “AK-47 proof” because it is supposed to withstand small arms fire. In general, we don’t like using the term “bullet-proof” as no car like this one is totally immune to even small arms fire. Instead people should see this as “bullet-resistant”: it buys enough time for the occupants to escape. We don’t have the exact price, but you can guess that it probably costs an arm.
