The Dell Mini 9 netbook does not come with built-in 3G connectivity, but that doesn’t mean some perseverance and a healthy dose of DIY knowledge can’t fix. Rob has managed to open up his precious Mini 9 and installed a mini PCIe bracket within alongside a SIM connector that worked in his favor. After soldering everything in place and booting up his operating system, he was able to access 3G connectivity over his Mini 9 wherever he went – well, at least wherever there is a decent signal for him to use. According to Rob, the signal isn’t the best in the world so he’ll need to further work on the project by throwing in another antenna, a somewhat similar move to the Acer Aspire One 3G hack.
