Dolby has just announced its release of Dolby Axon, a 3D voice communication platform that will make an appearance in a couple of online games that are currently in the works. These two titles are Jumpgate Evolution and Mission Against Terror, where the former is a MMORPG while the other is a FPS by NetDevil and Kingsoft, respectively. Dolby Axon hopes to increase the level of immersion in a game by enabling players to enter into an even more realistic aural world while they’re performing their in-game tasks, but we think visuals will always have a higher priority among gamers compared to audio. What do you think – will Doly Axon catch on in the near future, or is it a dud?
