Surprisingly, new brain data from a French surgical team has revealed the fact that our brains are a wonderful organ, capable of recreating lost neurological control systems in the case of patients who have received double hand transplants. Out of six patients, these doctors analyzed a couple of them for further evidence on how they actually learnt to accept a (literally) foreign body and yet wield control over it – pretty unnerving considering this used to be another person’s set of hands (shudder). Strangely enough, this process can only be studied by reattaching limbs, and we know it isn’t easy to get donors for spare body parts for the greater good of science, so to speak.
