Ford MyKey Aims For Safer Drivers

Ford’s MyKey is a unique programmable ignition key that is able to store both restrictions and reminders which could actually result in safer teen driving (an oxymoron, eh?). It will send out warning noises as you hit speeds of 45, 55 and 65 mph, and until you buckle up, the radio will remain mute. When wearing a seat belt, the radio is limited to half-volume at best so that you can concentrate more on driving instead of humming to your favorite singer. The MyKey will make its debut with the 2010 Ford Focus and ought to see action on other Ford and Lincoln cars and trucks in the same model year as well. It would be nice to see this implemented by other vehicle manufacturers.
