We guess it was only a matter of time before GPS navigation arrived on the DS – after all, the GBA slot is ripe for the pickings, and a touchscreen display at the bottom for navigation is optimal for such a purpose although we would’ve like a larger display to work in our favor. Very little else is known about this GPS navigation add-on, but we do know it won’t work with the DSi because the latest DS iteration has already dropped the GBA slot. Hopefully the GBalpha device will come with a microSD memory card slot so that map information can be updated in a painless manner via the Internet without having to beam it wirelessly from some kiosk. Inside, you will find a U-Blox 5 chipset for its GPS navigation capability and 32MB of extended memory function. No word on pricing or availability yet.
