Google has just announced a GMail update for the iPhone and Android platforms. Basic offline support and user interface improvements are on today’s menu. Google has taken into account that mobile networks are more unreliable than their desktop counterparts, so they have added a lot of caching on the device to reduce waiting for the server response. Instead, the server communication will be done in the background, while you are doing nothing with your phone.
