Haptic Feedback To Appear In More Than Just Phones

Artificial Muscle strongly believes that haptic feedback is the way of the future, where touching your device ought to elicit some sort of acknowledgement response, and they are currently displaying some of the company’s technologies at the Interactive Displays 2009 conference. They won’t take the normal route of relying on a vibration motor in a phone to provide feedback from a screen, but has instead developed and patented an electroactive polymer that can expand when upon receiving an electronic signal. According to Peter Gise, product manager for Artificial Muscle, this technology will “enhance the usage experience, so it’s not just visual and it’s not just audio.”
