Midnight Raid Attack Risk For Cell Phones

Don’t think that your cell phone number is safe from hackers – someone with the right toolkits and skill could actually hijack your precious handset simply by sending SMS messages to it – at least that’s what mobile security firm Trust Digital claims. Known as Midnight Raid Attack, this form is most effective when one is asleep as a text message sent to the handset in particular will fire up a Web browser automatically, directing the phone to a pre-determined malicious Web site which would then result in a download of an executable file that will then self-install and steal data from the phone. Pretty scary eh, no idea what people would do with the inventory of pizza delivery company phone numbers on my handset though.
