Toshiba Unveils New Regza LCD TV Line

Toshiba has increased the number of Regza LCD TV models in Japan from April 25 onwards, with the top-of-the-line ZX8000 taking the cake thanks to its direct white LED backlight. In addition, it comes with an LED backlight control system courtesy of Toshiba’s newly-developed LSI, enabling the ZX8000 to control light emission for each area on the screen which results in a high dynamic contrast ratio of 2,000,000:1 – something unprecedented. The Full HD Clear Panel makes for a glossy surface (hello, fingerprints!) while reducing diffused reflection of external light on its surface and preventing light from within the panel to be diffused in the same way, resulting in deep, black colors. Other features include double-speed driving function (120fps), a 300GB hard drive and support for Yahoo! TV among others. This new Regza line of LCD TVs will come in varying sizes from 37″ to 55″, with prices hitting $6,000 on the high end scheme of things.
