Dell aims to please this time round with the Studio XPS 13 coming with the option of having the Linux-based Ubuntu operating system pre-loaded. Apart from the change in operating system, you can expect key specifications to remain similar to its Windows Vista counterpart. There are some subtle differences though, including the option to upgrade to a 2.53GHz Core 2 Duo on the Ubuntu XPS 13, alongside a maximum of 4GB RAM, which is 4GB short of the maximum on the Vista version. If you decide to forge ahead, it will come with Ubuntu Desktop Edition version 8.10, although there is the option to pick up version 7.04 with a year of basic tech support or 7.04 with one year of standard tech support. Prices start from $1,099 upwards.
