LaCie has flirted with designer external hard drives before, and here they are with a couple of designer USB hubs which were specially developed for mobility and desktop convenience, going by the names LaCie Core4 and LaCie Core7. The brain behind these designs belong to Sam Hecht, and they do look reminiscent of Hecht’s award-winning LaCie Little Disk, featuring built-in cables that make it ideal for convenience and utility without causing too much “visual noise” from the front. The LaCie Core4 comes with a quartet of USB 2.0 ports, three external USB ports and a built-in mini-USB cable, looking like a tiny matchbox. As for the LaCie Core7, this model comes in a sleek desktop form factor with half a dozen USB 2.0 ports in addition to a built-in extractible mini-USB cable. You can choose from Warm Gray, Blue and Orange colors, where the LaCie Core4 and LaCie Core7 will retail for $9.99 and $19.99, respectively.
