The iPhone is no doubt one versatile communications device, and here is a DIY project that will make you love your fruity handset all the more. Known as the Laser Matrix projector, you will need the following before you begin :-
- 5×7 laser matrix
- 5 8-bit D-type latches (SN74LVTH573PW) to control the total 35 laser pointers
- Microcontroller (PIC16F722) to control the decoder and manage the serial communication with iPhone
All of the laser modules are capable of emitting 650nm red laser light, with power consumption of 2~5 mW. A decent amount of DIY knowledge is essential as you will need to have steady hands to drill holes in segments of the PCB board. The more adventurous among you can always insert more power lasers in the matrix to project an image of choice on sides of buildings from as far as a few hundred yards away.
