Wait a minute here – isn’t Microsoft already doing so? Well, they’ve come up with standards for their next generation operating system, Windows 7, limiting its use in netbooks to 10.2″ at best from the original 12.1″ as agreed upon with Intel earlier. This news does not bode too well for VIA Technologies as it will definitely hurt VIA’s current price advantage in the 11″ and above segment, whereas the current 10″ segment is currently under full control of Intel and its Atom platform.
