Philips Color E-Paper

Philips has released yet another version of their color e-paper which could potentially boot LCD displays out of the door. The current concept relies on new technology that preserves screen resolution as it turns the traditional pixel model on its head, literally. Instead of current e-ink technology as found in the Amazon Kindle and Sony Reader that rely on electrophoresis, Philips’ “in-plane electrophoretics” allow multi-color bits to move about horizontally instead of vertically. This technology will still take at least three more years before they arrive at mainstream consciousness though.
