
Acer has set its sights on being the first company to roll out Google Android-powered netbooks by this year, something which should worry Microsoft as their dominance in the netbook market could be threatened as high Android sales would eat into Windows XP-powered units. We’re sure that Acer won’t be the only manufacturer to release an Android-powered netbook, and look forward to announcements by other companies who will follow in the Taiwan-based organization’s steps.

Android Android is mobile operating system from Google. The software was originally built by a company called Android Inc, that was purchased by Google in 2005. From its modest debuts, Android has become a powerhouse that powers not only smartphones and tablet, but a host of other less high-profile devices and gadgets. Although Android is not a community-driven project, Google does release the source code as open-source under the Apache license.
